Definition: An older statutory and exam term for disability protection in fair housing, generally involving a qualifying impairment, a record of it, or being regarded as having it.
Example
A housing provider considers a qualifying resident's request for a reasonable accommodation in a policy.
Keep the distinction clear
Disability is the preferred general wording. Protection is not limited to visible conditions, and an accommodation request is different from a request to physically modify the property.
