Definition: A business arrangement in which participants combine resources or efforts for a defined undertaking, often a particular development or investment project.
Example
A landowner and a developer collaborate to build and sell a specified project.
Keep the distinction clear
The joint venture's legal entity, agreement, and governing law determine control and liability. Calling an arrangement a joint venture does not by itself create a liability shield.
