Definition: An interest or objective that conflicts with another party's interest. Buyers and sellers often have opposing price objectives even while both want the transaction to close.
Example
A seller wants the highest price, while the buyer wants to pay less for the same home.
Keep the distinction clear
Opposing bargaining goals are not automatically misconduct. A licensee must still observe the duties of the brokerage relationship and handle conflicts appropriately.
