Definition: One person or a group of people occupying a housing unit. Household members do not have to be related, so a household is not necessarily a family.
Example
Three unrelated adults sharing one apartment form one household for a housing-market count.
Keep the distinction clear
Household size and family relationships are different concepts. Housing decisions must also respect applicable fair-housing rules rather than assumptions about who belongs together.
