Renewing your Florida real estate license has two main parts: complete the education required for your license cycle, then pay the renewal fee through your DBPR account. Start early so there is time for your completion to appear in the state system before your deadline.
1. Check your license status and deadline
Florida real estate licenses generally renew every two years and expire on either March 31 or September 30. Your exact expiration date and education requirement are shown in your DBPR record.
- Check your Florida license status
- See how to verify your required and completed hours
- Not sure which course you need? Review the Florida education requirements by license stage
2. Complete the education required for this renewal
- Sales associate, first renewal: Complete the 45-hour Sales Associate Post-Licensing course.
- Broker, first renewal: Complete the 60-hour Broker Post-Licensing requirement.
- Sales associate or broker, later renewals: Complete 14 hours of continuing education.
If this is your first renewal, post-licensing is required whether your license is active or inactive. You may begin as soon as your license is issued, and completing it early gives you time to use what you learn while avoiding deadline pressure.
Important for first-renewal post-licensing
- The 45-hour Sales Associate Post-Licensing course has an end-of-course exam that must be passed with at least 75%.
- There is no additional state exam after the post-licensing course.
- Missing the first-renewal post-licensing deadline can cause the license to become null and void.

3. Allow time for DBPR to update
After you successfully complete your TSRE course, TSRE electronically reports the completion to DBPR. The DBPR portal may take 48–72 hours to display the completed hours, especially near a renewal deadline.
Finish early whenever possible. If you complete all required coursework by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on the deadline, the course is reported with that completion date even if the DBPR portal updates later. However, waiting until the deadline can still cause a temporary license-status issue or require manual processing.
If your completion is still missing after 72 hours, contact TSRE so we can review and resubmit it if necessary.
4. Pay your renewal fee through DBPR
- Go to the DBPR Online Services portal.
- Sign in to your account.
- Select your real estate license and choose the renewal option.
- Follow the prompts to complete the renewal and pay the state fee.
- Confirm that DBPR shows the new expiration date after processing.
