Definition: Alluvion or alluvium refers to soil, sand, or other sediment deposited by water. In property study it is associated with land gradually added through accretion.
Example
A river gradually deposits silt along a bank, creating additional dry ground.
Keep the distinction clear
Accretion emphasizes the gradual process; alluvion commonly identifies the deposited material or resulting addition. A sudden flood event does not by itself establish the same boundary result.
