For an exam question about an office entrance sign, identify the broker and the business structure before checking the wording.
What the statute requires
Section 475.22 requires each active broker to maintain a sign at or near the entrance of the principal office and each branch office. Someone about to enter must be able to see and read it easily.
- The sign must identify the broker and any trade name.
- For a partnership or corporation, it must include the firm or corporation name, or its trade name, together with the name of at least one broker.
- It must include “licensed real estate broker” or “lic. real estate broker.”
A useful study check
If an answer gives only a team nickname and phone number, ask what required broker identification and wording are missing. A familiar brand name alone does not answer every part of the rule.
Keep office entrance signs separate from questions about advertising, yard signs, or online profiles. Read the rule the question actually asks about.
