If DBPR has approved you for the Florida Laws and Rules examination, focus your preparation on Florida-specific law. Do not assume that the study plan for the full sales associate or broker exam is the same.
Confirm that this is your assigned exam
This exam is used for qualifying applicants under mutual recognition. Holding a license in another state does not, by itself, establish eligibility. Check your DBPR authorization and Florida Real Estate Education Exemptions and Mutual Recognition.
Use the official outline
The DBPR Laws and Rules Candidate Information Booklet describes a closed-book examination with 40 scored multiple-choice questions, 90 minutes, and a passing score of 30 correct answers (75%). Additional pilot questions may be included with additional time as described in the booklet. Check the current booklet and your appointment instructions before testing.
The focus is Florida real estate law, particularly Chapters 455 and 475, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 61J2, Florida Administrative Code.
Turn the outline into a study plan
- Make a checklist from the booklet's content outline.
- For each topic, summarize the Florida rule and identify who must act, what must happen, and any deadline or exception.
- Compare Florida rules with your prior state's rules so familiar habits do not substitute for the rule being tested.
- Use practice questions that match this exam's scope. Review the underlying rule after every missed or guessed answer.
- Finish with fresh practice under the conditions stated for your exam.
Ask TSRE which resources in your purchase are intended for Laws and Rules preparation before relying on a general practice bank.
If you need another attempt or an official review
Use the current candidate booklet and State Exam guide. Review and challenge procedures have deadlines and may affect the timing of a retest. Share topic areas with support, not secure exam questions.
