TSRE’s retake guarantee helps eligible students continue after an unsuccessful end-of-course exam without an additional retake fee. It does not guarantee a passing result and does not create a refund entitlement.
Exam retest or full-course retake?
- Exam retest: the next authorized end-of-course exam after an unsuccessful original exam.
- Full-course retake: repeating the course when required by the applicable exam rule or when TSRE confirms eligibility under the retake guarantee.
Contact TSRE before scheduling either option so Support can confirm which step applies.
Separate deadlines apply
- TSRE registration deadline: retake-guarantee eligibility continues until the course registration expires. Unless the course description states otherwise, registration and online access generally expire one year after purchase.
- FREC exam-retest deadline: the permitted retest window is measured from the original exam date and follows the rules for that course.
- Prelicensing certificate validity: the certificate’s two-year state-exam validity is separate from both deadlines.
A transfer or retake does not restart these dates or extend a DBPR licensing, education, examination, or renewal deadline. All applicable deadlines must still be met.
Quick guide by course type
- 63-hour sales associate and 72-hour broker prelicensing: one retest is allowed at least 30 days after the original exam and within one year of that exam. If the retest is unsuccessful or the permitted window is missed, the course must be repeated in full.
- Sales associate and broker post-licensing: one retest is allowed within one year of the original exam. The prelicensing 30-day waiting period does not apply. If the retest is unsuccessful or the permitted window is missed, the applicable course must be repeated.
- Correspondence continuing education: after an unsuccessful exam, repeat the course of study before taking a different exam. The prelicensing waiting period does not apply.
See the End of Course Exam guide for complete course-specific rules.
What the guarantee covers
- Eligible exam retests or required full-course retakes completed before the registration expires carry no additional retake fee.
- Live-class placement depends on the published schedule and available space. A specific date, location, format, or instructor is not guaranteed.
- The guarantee does not extend a state deadline, guarantee passing, or create a refund entitlement.
